About American Gear Company
American Gear Company (AGC) is a family of small businesses building custom action sports and promotional products in Washington, Utah. We’re makers at heart—obsessed with materials, ride feel, and the kind of quality you notice the moment you pick something up.
Our Story
AGC started in 1997 at Big Bear Mountain, when the Monson brothers began building snowboards as a garage hobby fueled by long days on snow and a simple goal: make something better. Early on, we pitched a tent outside a local rental shop so riders could demo what we were building—and weekend after weekend, the boards spoke for themselves.
A custom snowboard project for a Tower Records magazine contest helped turn that momentum into a real business. Demand grew, and we expanded into a full-service factory capable of building custom boards and specialty products for brands, marketing agencies, and athletes who wanted something truly different.
In 2012, we moved our manufacturing operation to Washington, Utah, where we continue to build American-made gear with the same hands-on approach that started it all.
What We Make
What began with snowboards has grown into a wide range of products for the action sports and promotional industries, including:
-
Snowboards and skis
-
Wakeboards and wakesurf products
-
Skimboards and skateboards
-
Specialty builds (including items like oars and hockey sticks)
Whether it’s a one-off concept or a full production run, we love solving unusual build challenges—and making gear that performs.
Built In-House, Start to Finish
We do it all under one roof—from CAD design to the finished product—so quality stays consistent and the details stay sharp. That means better control over materials, shaping, graphics, and final finish… and fewer compromises along the way.
Brands and Custom Work
Alongside our custom manufacturing, we’ve developed house brands like Humanity and SPOT! and have produced promotional builds for a variety of recognizable names over the years. No matter the customer, the goal is the same: make it durable, make it functional, and make it something people are proud to ride or display.
Giving Back
We believe business should do good. Through our Kiva team, we support entrepreneurs around the world by funding small loans that help people grow businesses and change their lives—one project at a time.
Let’s Build Something
If you’re looking for American-made gear—and a team that cares about every layer, edge, and finish—you’re in the right place.
